Board of Education–appointed Foundation directors play an essential part in the educational experience of students attending Bellflower Unified. The Foundation serves to supplement and enhance that experience.

Its function is to raise money through community events, alumni relations, and other fundraising activities. The term of office is generally four years, with a few exceptions for the initial formation of the Board of Directors. The Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. Its members are appointed by the Board of Education. It is a corporate entity.
