About the Foundation

Community support. More opportunity.

Established following approval by the Bellflower Unified School District Board of Education in 2024, the Bellflower Unified School District Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to supporting and enhancing educational experiences for BUSD students.

The Foundation helps bring additional resources and opportunities to students by building community support through fundraising, special events, alumni engagement and other charitable activities.

It is recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under EIN 33-4553824, with a federal ruling date of November 2025. The Foundation is its own corporate entity. Directors are appointed by the District Board of Education.

The District it supports serves families in Bellflower, Cerritos and Lakewood.

  1. September 2024

    Formation approved

    The Bellflower Unified Board of Education approved creation of the Foundation as a California nonprofit public benefit corporation.

  2. October 2025

    Public launch

    The District celebrated the Foundation’s official launch and identified Allison Castellanos as president.

  3. November 2025

    Federal tax-exempt status

    IRS-derived records report the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) ruling, confirming eligibility for tax-deductible charitable contributions.
