A Mayfair graduate who won U.S. national titles and beat Nadia Comăneci on bars.
Donna Turnbow graduated from Mayfair High School in 1979.
She was the 1977 U.S. all-around national champion and also won national titles on uneven bars and balance beam. She competed at the 1976 Olympic Trials and later competed for USC.
The Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame notes that she beat Nadia Comăneci on the uneven bars in the 1977 USA vs. Romania competition and placed third in the all-around at the Louisiana Superdome. She was inducted in 2022.
